The right dental procedure can help you look youthful as well. While any general dentist can perform simple cosmetic dental procedures, such as [teeth whitening](https://www.manndental.com/blog/your-teeth-whitening-dentist-in-sugarland-tx), you definitely need a specialized dentist for more complex cosmetic procedures. So, if you are looking for a smile makeover that is similar to your favorite celebrity, here are some tips that will help you choose the right dentist. ## 1. Do Not Rush Remember, a cosmetic dental procedure is an elective one. So do not rush into the procedure without the right knowledge. Do some online research to get familiar with the procedure, techniques and the Sugar Land dentists that excel in it. This will allow you to short-list a few dentists and schedule an appointment. Most dentists in Sugarland TX are not averse to a free initial consultation. ## 2. Dentist’s Qualifications The cosmetic dentist you select should have the expertise, training and artistry to perform the procedure you are looking for. Remember, most dental schools do not offer specialized courses in cosmetic dentistry, but dentists can opt for hands-on cosmetic dentistry courses to become experts. Make certain the dentist you choose is aware of the latest techniques and procedures. So, do not be afraid to ask questions. Also, a good cosmetic dentist will have the necessary [professional credentials](https://www.manndental.com/dr-mark-mann), such as those from American Dental Association, and also pursue continuing education via courses, seminars and workshops. ## 3. Communication Skills Good Sugar Land dentists enjoy speaking openly and honestly to their patients. They are able to show their patients that they care about their wellbeing and often go out of their way to make patients feel comfortable. As a result, the dentist will take pains to explain the procedure, allay your fears and address your concerns. Also, good cosmetic dentists will recommend the right treatment plan that is customized based on your needs.  ## 4. Artistic Eye While cosmetic dentistry technology has advanced significantly in the last few decades, without outstanding aesthetic sense, a cosmetic dentist will not be able to achieve optimal results. Hence, make sure the dentist has an artistic eye and able to create a smile based on the shape and complexion of your face while taking into account your needs and desires. ## 5. References A good cosmetic dentist will always be proud of his achievements and will not hesitate to show you before and after photographs of his handiwork. Try to get references that had issues similar to yours and then judge whether the dentist suits your needs. Sugar Land dentists are professionals and believe in offering quality [dental care](http://www.nidcr.nih.gov/OralHealth/Topics/DevelopmentalDisabilities/DentalcareEveryday.htm) to their patients. So, finding the right cosmetic dentist to give you a smile makeover should not be difficult if you use the aforementioned tips. Such a dentist will ensure your smile becomes an asset rather than a liability.
